Welcome to the Cyprus Pollutant Release and Transfer Register

The Cyprus Pollutant Release and Transfer Register is a publicly accessible electronic database that provides key environmental data from industrial facilities operating in Cyprus.

Specifically, the Cyprus Pollutant Release and Transfer Register enables the public to have access to environmental information concerning the annual amounts of pollutant releases to air, water and land as well as off-site transfers of waste and of pollutants in waste water from facilities that fall within the scope of the Regulation (EC) No. 166/2006 concerning the establishment of a European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR).

This Register contributes to transparency and more effective participation by the public in environmental decision-making, since through the Internet the public can have access to environmental information about facilities that fall within the Regulation (EC) No. 166/2006. All facilities included in the Register are presented on a map of Cyprus, while the public can access information about the location and address of the facility, the activities carried out, the economic activities, contact person etc.

At European Union level, the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) implements the provisions of the PRTR Protocol issued under the Aarhus Convention of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters. The relevant European Union site (E-PRTR) also includes data reported by some 24.000 industrial facilities covering 65 economic activities across Europe.
